Adventure and Weather Porn

When I was younger I envied people who had adventurous lives. I wanted my life to be exciting, fast-paced, interesting and something to talk about when I got older.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR.

I was picturing travel around the world, going to interesting places, collecting fun souvenirs, and maybe jumping out of a plane. I wasn’t really imagining traveling here and there, having something to say (usually bad) about the places I’ve been, having nothing to show for it and wanting to jump from a window. 😐

Tonight, the perfect end to the perfect decade:  my tooth broke and fell out of my mouth into my hand. I have no medical insurance and, at the moment, no spare cash on hand to see a dentist. Apparently this fits into what I wished for: exciting, interesting, something to talk about when I’m older.

For now, I’m going to have to let it go and hope it doesn’t get worse. No choice. I will have A LOT to talk about when I’m older.

In other news, earlier this weekend Matt had a tropical storm named after him and there was a Hurricane Lisa. The weather guy was talking about Lisa moving up the coast of Africa and said, “Lisa’s a tight little one…” It was weather porn.

Matthew and Lisa did their thing over the weekend, both becoming (tropically) depressed late Saturday and passing away on Sunday. Matthew died over southern Mexico and Lisa died over the Atlantic. May they rest in peace.

    • HAHA! I love you. I’m just worried that the tooth with begin to decay further and eventually fall out of my head. I’m already missing a couple of my back teeth on the bottom (one wisdom pulled and a botched root canal). This one is on the top (same side) and closer to my smile zone. I don’t want a hillbilly mouth, and I really don’t want ppl to see my broken tooth or a space when I smile. :/

I called the dentist this morning. It’s $50 for an office visit (PITA, but doable) and $125 or more for the x-ray (depending on what kind of x-ray he wants to do). That’s almost $200 just to look at it (no fixing). They can’t give me an estimate on the fixing because they don’t know what he’d have to do. So…do I pay $200 for possibly nothing? Ugh.

      Job please!

  1. I strive to be normal. Just normal, husband, home, kids, cats. If my life ended today, I still have enough material for four or five books. Makes me tired… I better go meditate.

To make your life interesting, providing more stories for when you are old…you could duct tape your broken tooth back in. Duct tape comes in lots of colors and patterns these day. And it’s inexpensive!

  2. hey, duct tape fixes EVERYTHING, lol! Weather porn, lol, all that was missing was, “And Matt & Lisa will rendezvous over the islands, then merging, potentially creating a small, tropical storm…” Rofl! LOVE the blog!!! Sorry about the tooth. At least no pain, broken root canal teeth, I’ve had 3 die a slow death, but they won’t fall out anytime soon… I had one linger for 16 YEARS, lol! Eventually had ’em pulled, but no biggie…

    • lol well, the broken one wasn’t the root canal one. Here’s hoping it stays put until I can afford to see a dentist.

And we really did create a small tropical storm. We named her Abigail. LOL. 🙂
